Impressions
What are impressions?
Impressions are a metric that measures how many times an element is displayed to users. It counts each view—not unique users. Impressions are used in SEO, advertising, and social media to measure reach and visibility.
Impressions in e-commerce
- SEO impressions —the number of times your page appears in Google’s search results
- Ad impressions —the number of times your Google or Facebook ad is displayed
- Product impressions —the number of times a product appears in a category list
Impressions alone don’t tell the whole story—what matters is the ratio of impressions to clicks (CTR/click-through rate). A high number of impressions with a low CTR may indicate that your title or ad copy needs optimization.
