Deposit
A deposit is an amount the customer pays in addition to the price of beverages in returnable containers, such as cans and bottles, which is refunded when the containers are returned. In Denmark, the rates for can and bottle deposits are set by law:
- Deposit A: 1.00 DKK
- Deposit B: 1.50 kr
- Deposit C: 3.00 DKK
These rates include VAT, so Deposit A of 1.00 kr consists of 0.80 kr plus 0.20 kr VAT. Stores that sell beverages in returnable containers are required to collect the deposit, and this also applies to online stores. The price of the item must be displayed without the deposit, while the deposit amount is listed separately.
Shoporama has built-in deposit support, ensuring that deposits are displayed correctly in the store, appear as separate lines in the cart and on the invoice, and are automatically refunded upon return. Read more in the article “Deposits and Refunds: How to Charge Deposits in Your Online Store.”
