Import categories via CSV

If you need to create or update many categories at once, you can do so using a CSV file. Here you'll find the complete guide to importing categories.

File Format

The CSV file must contain columns separated by semicolons. The most important column is the category name. You can also include:

Field Description
nameThe category name (required)
parentName of parent category (for subcategories)
descriptionCategory description (used for SEO)
rewrite_urlCustom URL (optional — generated automatically)

Upload your category file

  1. Go to Content → Categories
  2. Click "Import"
  3. Select your CSV file and click Upload
  4. Verify that the columns are mapped correctly
  5. Click Import

Tip

Subcategories are specified by entering the parent category’s name in the “parent” column. Make sure the parent category is created first (or already exists).
