What is an extra field?

An extra field (also called a custom field) is a field you define yourself to store information that is not covered by the platform's standard fields. This gives you the flexibility to customize your online store to your specific needs.

Extra fields in Shoporama

Shoporama supports extra fields on products. Extra fields can be used for:

  • Technical specifications (e.g. wattage, weight, material)
  • Categorization for product feeds (e.g. Google Shopping category, PriceRunner category)
  • Supplier information (e.g. supplier name, purchase price)
  • Custom data for display on the product page

Extra fields are created in product settings and can be displayed in the theme via Smarty templates. They are also included in product feeds if configured.
