Meta description

A meta description is the short text that appears below the title in Google search results and describes the page content.

What is a meta description?

A meta description is an HTML element that provides a short summary of a page's content. It typically appears as the gray text below the title in Google search results. A good meta description is 120-160 characters long and motivates the user to click.

Meta descriptions in eCommerce

For webshops, meta descriptions are important for:

  • Higher click-through rate (CTR) from search results
  • Better user expectation - the customer knows what they will find
  • Opportunity to highlight USPs, prices and offers

In Shoporama, you can set meta descriptions on products, categories, pages and blog posts. If you don't set one, Shoporama automatically generates one from the product description.
