The big guide to redirects
Complete guide to redirects in Shoporama. Learn when and how to create redirects and avoid losing rankings in Google.
You create redirects when you change the URL of a product, category or similar. This is also necessary if you have moved to Shoporama from another shop system with different URL structures.
When do you need to create redirects?
- You change the URL (rewrite URL) of a product or category
- You are moving to Shoporama from another shop system
- You delete a page that has traffic from Google
- You are restructuring your online store
How to create redirects
- Go to Settings (the gear in the top right corner)
- Select Redirects
- Enter the old URL (from-path) and the new URL (to-path)
- Click Save
Important rules
- Use relative paths - e.g. /old-url → /new-url
- Redirects are 301 (permanent), which tells Google that the new URL has taken over
- Avoid chains - redirect A→B→C should be simplified to A→C
- Avoid loops - A→B→A gives an infinite redirect
CSV import of redirects
If you have a lot of redirects (e.g. when moving from another system), you can import them via CSV. The format is:
/old-url-1;/new-url-1 /old-url-2;/new-url-2
