Bundles (Bundles)
Learn how to create bundles in Shoporama so you can sell multiple products as one package with automatic inventory tracking.
Bundling allows you to sell multiple products as a single package. The customer sees one item with one price and you can offer a bundle price that is lower than the sum of the individual products. When the bundle is sold, inventory is automatically updated on the underlying products.
When should you use bundles?
Bundles are ideal when you want to:
- Sell a promotional package, such as a Christmas gift box with three selected wines or a valentines box with chocolates and cards.
- Offer a starter package to new customers, such as a skincare routine with cleanser, serum and cream, or a starter kit for a new hobby.
- Increase average order value with cross-sell packages, e.g. camera, bag and memory card.
- Move dead stock by bundling hard-to-sell items in a mystery box or package offer.
- Create quantity deals, e.g. three t-shirts for $30 or two bottles of wine at a reduced price.
How to create a bundle
A bundle is basically a regular product in your online store with other products attached as content.
- Create or open the product that will be the bundle. Give it a descriptive name, its own price, images and possibly its own description, just like a regular product.
- Find the Bundles section on the product page.
- Search for the products that should be part of the bundle and add them.
- Enter the quantity of each product in the bundle (e.g. 3 t-shirts or 1 camera + 1 bag).
- Click Save.
Under the product list in the bundle section, the total sales value of the associated products and their total purchase price are displayed. This makes it easy to assess which bundle price makes sense.
Pricing the bundle
The bundle price is the selling price of the product you have bundled. Set it lower than the sum of the individual products if you want to save the customer money.
Example: A skincare bundle is sold for 499 kr. The individual products cost a total of $647 (cleanser $199, serum $249, cream $199). The customer saves $148 by buying the bundle.
On the order, the package itself appears as one line with the package price. The underlying products are shown as separate lines with unit price 0, so they can be packed and handled independently without affecting the total order price.
Display in the webshop
When the customer opens the bundle in the webshop, an overview of the included products is displayed with image, quantity and links to the individual products. The customer can click through and see details about each product.
If an underlying product has variants (e.g. size or color), the customer must select the variant directly on the bundle product page before the bundle can be added to the basket. This way you always know exactly what to pack.
Order management
When a customer buys a bundle:
- The order gets a line for the bundle itself with the bundle price.
- Each underlying product is created as a separate order line so you can see exactly what needs to be packed and shipped.
- The stock level is automatically updated on each of the underlying products. For example, if the customer buys 2 packs of 3 t-shirts, 6 t-shirts are deducted from the stock.
- If an underlying product has auto offline on out of stock enabled, it will be taken offline when the stock hits zero.
Label bundle orders automatically
You can create an order label with automatic assignment for bundled orders. This is useful if bundles need to be packed in a special way, for example in a gift box, so your warehouse team can quickly see which orders need extra attention.
Warehouse management
On the bundle product, you'll find the setting "The stock status of the bundle should reflect the stock status of the bundle contents". This is the recommended setting and you should almost always have it enabled.
When the setting is active:
- The bundle does not have its own inventory. Inventory is dynamically calculated as the minimum number of packages that can be assembled from the underlying products.
- Example: A package contains 1 cleanser and 1 serum. You have 10 cleansers and 4 serums in stock. The bundle is shown as 4 in stock.
- The package is automatically shown as out of stock if just one of the underlying products is out of stock.
- You cannot add stock directly on the bundle itself. You do this on the individual products.
Tip: Enable this setting to avoid selling packages that cannot be shipped because an item is out of stock. This is also the setup that makes accounting for inventory value the clearest.
Variants in bundled packages
A bundle has one common price. You cannot set different prices for variants of the bundle itself (e.g. a "small" and a "large" version with separate prices).
However, the products included in the bundle can have variants. If an underlying product has variants, Shoporama automatically prompts the customer to select a variant when purchasing the bundle. Stock is deducted from the selected variant.

Discount codes and promotions
Discount codes, promotions and volume discounts affect the sales price of the bundle just like a regular product. A bundle counts as one item for volume discount purposes, even if there are multiple underlying products.
Frequently asked questions
Does my bundle count double in the inventory value?
Only if you've turned off common stock. With shared inventory (the recommended setup), the bundle has neither its own inventory nor its own purchase price, so the value is only counted on the underlying products. Without shared inventory, the bundle can have its own inventory and cost price, and you risk counting the same items twice in your inventory report. See also calculating inventory value.
Why does my bundle have an inventory value of $0 when it costs $499 to sell?
This is completely intentional. The bundle is basically just a selling price for a combination of products. The value lies in the underlying products that are actually on the shelf. If the bundle also had an inventory value, you would count the same items twice. The selling price has nothing to do with the inventory value. It's only the cost price of the underlying products that counts.
What happens in the warehouse when a customer buys a bundle?
The underlying products are deducted from inventory, regardless of whether you use shared inventory or not. The bundle product itself does not affect inventory. This also means that you don't have to "top up" the bundle yourself. It is always available as long as the parts are in stock.
Can I price the bundle lower than the sum of the parts?
Yes, and that's often the whole point. The price of the bundle product is the price the customer pays. The underlying order lines are registered with $0 per piece, so the entire amount is on the bundle itself. This way you can easily create offers like "buy 3 for $199" without changing the prices of the individual items.
Do my discount codes work on bundles?
Yes, discount codes work on the bundle just like on other products. However, please note that the discount is calculated based on the sales price of the bundle, not on the sum of the underlying items, as they are set to 0 kr on the order.
Can the customer choose variants within a bundle, such as size or color?
Yes, they can. The bundle product itself cannot have variants with different prices, but the underlying products can have variants. For example, the customer chooses the size of the T-shirt and the color of the cap before adding the package to the basket.
Can I create a bundle that contains another bundle?
No, this is not possible. When adding products to a bundle, you can only select regular products. If you want to combine multiple bundles, you need to create a new bundle that points directly to the individual underlying products.
What happens if one of the underlying products is sold out?
The bundle can no longer be purchased because part of the content is missing. If you have enabled automatic offline when out of stock on the underlying product, it will automatically be hidden in the webshop until you restock.
Do bundles work with subscriptions?
No, they don't. Bundles and subscriptions cannot be combined. A bundle cannot be sold as a subscription, nor can a subscription product be part of a bundle.
